Responsibilities:
Complete assigned patient care based on the patients’ conditions, use judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments, and accurately recognize, report and record relevant patient information.
Observe, identify and respond to the patient’s needs for care, including medication, equipment- assisted care and patient/family education.
Prepare and administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular and/or intravenous) and perform treatments according to established policies/procedures.
Provide course oversight for field including the research of instructional curriculum for currency and evidence-based practice and implement new training guidelines.
Recognize urgent or emergency patient care situations, seek assistance of the RN and/or MD/DO, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed.
Perform support duties for complex diagnostic tests and/or specialized practices or procedures, which include preparing the patient, assisting in the diagnostic examination, preparing and handling specialized instruments or other specialized equipment, and monitoring the patient’s condition before, during, and following the procedure.
Orient peers & ancillary personnel to policies and procedures, skills, and standards of practice.
Integrate healthy work environment principles that result in improved patient healthcare delivery, education of patients and their families and employee satisfaction.
Verbalize knowledge of emergency response to life threatening conditions and medical response for all point of injuries
Demonstrate hands-on skills and provide safe environment for students to demonstrate skills.
Demonstrate appropriate operations of all equipment and supplies to include manikins
Performance of didactic and skills teaching to students.
Ensure infection control and safety measures are adhere to, during set up and clean up.
Qualifications:
Degree/Education: Certificate; Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency and must have graduated from a state Board accredited program and possess and maintain an unrestricted LVN/LPN license.
Certifications: Basic Life Support, unrestricted LVN license to practice in the state of Texas. Trauma core course certification mandatory (either Trauma Combat Casualty Course (TCCC), Trauma Nurse Core Class (TNCC), Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), or suitable equivalent course). Highly desirable – Trauma Combat Casualty Course – medical provider instructor or instructor status in any advanced trauma field training course.
Five years of practical or vocational nurse experience. Minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience in the past three (3) years in Emergency Department, Urgent Care Center, or ICU.
Previous instructor experience is an advantage.
Military Veteran related experience is a plus.
Current, unrestricted license as a practical or vocational nurse in the state of Texas. After in-processing contractor must maintain compliance with Continuing Education requirements and provide proof of documentation to the Government.

Must be able to lift 40 lbs. and walk up to 200 yards without assistance. Duties are primarily outside in the environmental elements for example: rain, ice, wind, uneven terrain etc.
